    Vermicelli Sheera {Sweet Seviyan}

    Vermicelli Sheera or Sweet Seviyan is an Indian delicacy, made with thin wheat vermcelli noodles, roasted in aromatic ghee and cooked with sugar and nuts.

    Step by step recipe to make Vermicelli Sheera:

    1. Add ghee and vermicelli in a medium pan. Roast on medium heat, stirring frequently until it is aromatic and golden brown.

    2. Add 1 cup water and cook covered for 2-3 minutes until all the water is absorbed.

    1. Stir in sugar and raisins. Cover the pan and cook 2 minutes on low heat.

    1. Turn off the heat off. Add the vanilla essence and mix well. Garnish with sliced almonds and pistachios.

    • 1 cup vermicelli use fine, broken into smaller pieces
    • ¾ cup sugar
    • 1 tablespoon ghee
    • 5 almonds sliced
    • 5 pistachios chopped
    • 1 tablespoon raisins
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence

    • Add ghee and vermicelli in a medium pan. Roast on medium heat, stirring frequently until it is aromatic and golden brown.
    • Add 1 cup water and cook covered for 2-3 minutes until all the water is absorbed.

      This is a quick and easy dessert to make-especially for the dairy/lactose intolerant. If you use the pre-roasted vermicelli that makes it even quicker!
